For a practice run, I decided to make a design from her free block of the month patterns; Noah's Ark. I took three different designs and incorporated them into one punch needle design. After I made the design, I made it into a cupboard hanger and antiqued it with walnut spray. It really gives a nice aged look to the piece.

Debbie, love the noah's ark punchneedle. You really caught the detail by using the 3 strands. Actually surprised you can get it with 3 strands. I usually use 1 or 2 strands for tiny detail. It turned out awesome. Nice idea of you and Lynette joining together to do this. Now I'm going over to leave her a note too!

Hi Lynette, Just got back from Debbie's. The punchneedle is sprayed with Walnut Spray to give it an aged look,never done that before. I wonder if it makes it stiff. Thanks for a lovely freebie.

Well, I guess I can tell you what I use;)
I use Walnut Ink, it is made by tsukinek and it works well with punch. I do have a technique that I use and will be adding that to the information in my patterns.
I am enjoying all of your comments and I can't wait to see some finished pieces with the design.

For those of you who have never punched, don't be afraid to try it. You can buy weavers cloth at Jo anns and they now carry several styles of needle punches. I have seen one by fons and porter and few other brands. I do not recommend the dimensions.
You can use a hoop, I use a gripper frame myself. But hoops are cheap and readily available. Just get some supplies and practice on a blank piece. Get the feel of the needle, try different heights and have fun.
For the rug hookers out there, you can use this pattern too. I am planning on doing one myself as soon as I finish the other million projects I am working on, lol.

For those who did not see the other post, I will rewrite it again. It is actually Walnut ink, you can get it in the craft stores.

I have heard of this but not tryied it yet. I end up using tea or coffee. Have friends that use "tan ritz die" and that comes out really nice also.
I have also purchased something called " Instant Antique" by Primtive Gatherings
not tryed it yet... well i did but it did not work i did something wrong, so i have to play with it somemore.
Yes, there is a trick to using it. I am working on some new patterns and will hopefully have them up later this week. I will be adding the techniques I use and other products that you can use if you can't find that.
