Indian Summer

I was hoping for an extension of summer and we have been lucky with beautiful weather this fall.
We got the outer bands of the coming storms of hannah, but other than gusting winds, the day was warm and wonderful to be out in our kayaks on the lake. We even got to do a little surfing as we went into the large cove following the wind driven waves to the shore.

It was a rough paddle across the lake and we got a good workout, paddling against the wind. Bill had to pump some water that got splashed in his boat, notice the one eyed pirate rock watching him;)

The great thing about the lake is that is is shallow in a lot of areas. It keeps the water warmer for longer periods, so we got lots of swimming in today. Tomorrow we will be getting the remnants of Hannah, so a good day for Bill to work on my new wood flooring and for me to finish up some projects.

Sounds like you're keeping busy with good exercise and with your crafts! Lovely photos, as always.

Debbie this looks soo fun and relaxing and energizing all at the same time! Makes me want to try it! LOL (and watch me flip right over!! i know it's not an easy sport! haha!) Don't you just love this time of year? And you don't take for granted every day that's still warm enough to be out and enjoying it!? :)

Bren,
The boats are not tipping, I can lean right over in mine and not fall in. I have a boat with multiple chines, so the ridges underneath keep me stable and great for surfing. The boats that tip easy are the long narrow ones for sea kayaking. Someday I will get one, they are a lot easier and faster for long distances. It is a very addicting sport.
