Friday finish and starts!

 

This week seemed to go by too quickly and as usual, I didn't get as much done. More time spent getting ready for Easter and getting out on nice days.

I did put a new piece together, I have had it for years and decided it was time to make it. I have most of the pieces cut out, so I could make sure I got the layout right. The design is by Crane Design, called Lighthouse Landing.

I also painted some new rocks. I enjoy doing happy pieces that make me smile and hopefully, will make others smile when they find them.

Last weekend we took a drive to Connecticut. A few nice walks at a few parks.

One park still has the old farm buildings left.

And lots of birds at the parks, but as usual, they hid or flew away when I got the camera out. I found an owl in a tree, he stayed still.

During the week we spent time at the beach, in the afternoon. The tide was always coming in, but I still found some nice treasures and got nice walks in.

Today we got out for last minute shopping and spent the rest of the day, at the beach. This is a Long Beach, so we got a nice walk in and found some nice treasures, which are in the 4th glass photo. We walked as far as we could go, which ended at a rocky barrier. Next time we will have to find a place to park and walk all the way to the lighthouse area.

Short Camping trip!

We went camping this weekend, but it did not turn out as expected, that seems to happen a lot;)
It was hot and bad air quality so anything I did, tired me out, twice as fast. When ever it got too much, I dunked back into the water but the air quality wasn't helping and it didn't let up until 11 at night.

Then the Carbon alarm went off, for no reason, so Bill snipped the wires, not sure if that was smart, but it shut it up. Then Bean was acting up, he is out of the cage now and fine at home, but first time in the trailer so he wanted back out. Then the battery died and Bill who has no sense, tries to figure it out at 3 in the morning and bangs inside and out for an hour, so I got no sleep and we went home that morning.

I have learned, not to camp at state parks on hot days. I can live with mishaps and make do when I have to, but I cannot be outside on bad air days, because of my bad heart valve. But I did get to have some fun with Bean and enjoy some time in the water. Bean and I walked along the shoreline, it is shadier under the trees and I wear my kayak boots so I can walk through the mucky areas.

Bill played with Bean while I paddled around the coves. The little kayak is great for skirting around the rocky areas and I don't have to worry about bumping into rocks. The seagulls love this area, there are lots of small fish in the coves.

Since it was so  hot, we went for a ride after dinner to watch the sunset from the ocean. I looked up the closest Dunkin Donuts for coffee and told Bill where it was and he drove right by, errr. Then we had to go to the next one and that took longer and we had to go to a different beach area. We found out, there was no beach area to park and it was crowded with people staying in the nearby hotels and cottages, so I took shots from the car window.

I decided to cancel the next trip to the park, it was on weekdays and since I am a glutton for punishment, I made a reservation at a campground in NH for after labor day. It is on the water, has a deck with table and grill, full hookups and a large dog play area and swimming beach, as well as dog sitting. Sounds perfect, but we all know how my perfect vacations go, lol.

This is the photo they show, where I reserved a deluxe site, I am sure they vary in size and type, but ours will have a deck with grill and tables, like this one. Who knows what adventures we will have up there, hopefully none that involve bears;) The reason we picked this place was, it has a large dog play area, a dog swimming beach and dog sitting, the perfect place for Bean and for us if we want to do something that doesn't allow dogs. It will depend on the weather, if it is warm, we may go kayaking, if it is cooler, we will do short hikes where there area waterfalls.

Weekend Wanderings Giveaway!

Saturday we stayed home, we had a new slider going in to replace the french doors. They finished putting the door in and Bill is doing the framing. Today he put the spray foam in the frame area and as usual got foam on more than the door and one thing was, my long ark quilt that I had hanging over the doors. I think I can just take out the stitches on the border and then cut that off and rebind it, I hope;)

Sunday was a beautiful day and too hot for one thing and too cold for another. I decided to just get out for a ride and a few walks in areas near the ocean for the breezes but away from the crowds.

The first place we visited was a short walk next to a park. I had read a story online about an event that happened here, so I thought it would be fun to check it out, since it was a short walk. So, for this contest, tell me what story you think is the real story about this place. I will draw a name from the winning answers and one from all the comments. The winners will have their choice of any one of my epatterns. The contest will end on Friday and I will announce the winner, Friday night.

Then onto the real hike. We went back to the glacial park, it has great trails and if you hike on the upper trails, great ocean breezes.

My daughter loved the views from the rest area. Great place to just sit and enjoy a cool breeze without fighting the traffic.

On the way back I spied a Lady Slipper, a nice way to end a beautiful day.

Weekend Wanderings!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I was able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh ocean breezes.

On saturday we went to Beavertail lighthouse. We had things to do so it was a nice afternoon ride and the perfect weather for a walk around the road and trails.

The tide was going out so the waves were rolling and crashing against the rocks.

We walked further down, along the paths that follow the rocky shore.

When I look at my photos, I see things that I don't notice as I take them. Can you see any shapes in the rocks?

I love watching the water as it crashes up on the rocks, then trickles back into the sea.

On Sunday we went to a Dr. John Champlain Glacier Park. It is a wooded walk along paths that follow ridges and valleys that were carved out by the receding glaciers. The walk itself was nice and peaceful and we ended by coming to a higher point with views of Atlantic Avenue at Misquamicut Beach.

It was the perfect spot to stop and enjoy the views.
