Friday Finish!

This week I finished one piece, two others I am working on. One is a table runner that I am hand stitching and another stitchery for Christmas.

I had plans this week, it was our vacation week and our rates are down, so we can travel to the northern states, but lucky me is sick. I have all the Covid symptoms except the cough, but I have been taking meds that I have on hand for lyme and added a few days of Chloroquine, that is what seemed to push me back to health. I am still tired and weak, but today I was able to do light therapy exercises in the spa. Tomorrow I get a test from the CVS, wish I had done it sooner but if it is negative, then I know I am safe and will be able to take the boys out next weekend when the holiday is over. We will be able to go the the Connecticut parks for free again and it won't be long before foliage tours.

This stitchery is a pattern by Marg Low for the group, Love and Hugs from Australia, on Facebook. I didn't like how the light background stood out with the other colors, so I added a bit of walnut ink to tone it down. Unfortunately I noticed a bit of black where I used my ink pen. I have used them for years and never had it run, but this one is a larger brush size, so I guess they do bleed, so I will not use that again.

I added glitter threads for accents and on the edges, I wish that showed in a photo. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend and stay safe and healthy.

Weekend Wanderings!

We had on and off rain this weekend, but a few breaks which meant a good day to go for a ride and stop by at our favorite spots.

I always enjoy going to the port of Gallilee where the ferry and fishing boats come and go, throughout the day. The parking lot faces the breach way so we can sit in the car and watch or go on the platform when the rain stops.

There were a few seagulls and this one came out pretty nice, except the gray day made it dull. So, I a little photo shop magic and I got a beautiful blue sky with a slight texture for fun. You are welcome to use the photo for your own personal use.

We caught the high speed ferry coming in.

The next stop was the lighthouse at Point Judith, on the other end of the coast line. It was a bit windy and this boat was trying to get back to port. The boat was going up with the waves.

 And back down again....

Since I was playing with photoshop, I decided to make a banner. You are welcome to use it, you can add your own words or use it as a header for your blog, just add your name. You can also use it for labels if you have a label maker. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Primitive Heaven!

Yesterday we headed to Connecticut for a change of pace and since we were headed in that direction, I couldn't go without visiting my favorite prim shop, Milltown Primitives. The store features five rooms, each one decorated in 18th century reproductions and antiques. It is like visiting a museum, each room is set up like a room in a home and there are so many wonderful pieces that I walked around and around, seeing something new each time.

Robin is a wonderful host and her husband is part of the team who makes wonderful reproduction furnishings. Robin is also an accomplished cross stitch designer who was featured in Early American Life and is thinking about starting up her line of patterns again. She was kind enough to give me one of her iron on designs to try, so I will be working on that and feature it in a future blog posting. Her designs are done with iron on patterns, so perfect for those of us who have poor eyesight and love to work on linens or osnaburg.

Here is one of the larger rooms and this is just a section.

I am bad at shopping, I tend to refrain from buying too much for myself, but I thought I deserved a treat this week and when I saw this banner, I just had to get it. It is made by a local artist and of course, it is perfect for a textile artist;) I need to redo my peg rack, and today I threw up the wreath and added some dried florals to it, so later I might make an old dress or sack, things to hang on the rack.

And here are the rest of my goodies, one item is not mine, but I have been looking for one and I wanted to grab it while I could;) The yarn is hand spun, prefect for my needle felting projects.

If you are ever in the area, Milltown Primitives is a must, on your places to visit.

I send blessings and well wishes to all of you this Easter.
