I finished up the stitching on my bird piece and like how it came out.
It was fun to do this piece, something a little different for me.
I would like to do some more art pieces, but try them from my own sketches and photos, so we shall see what I can come up with.
I am still not sure what to do with the background, I would like to do quilting that works with the design, so any ideas would be appreciated. Thinking clouds for some reason, but not sure how I could quilt that, except to do some free motion cloud like shapes.
The design comes from Carol Armstrong in an older issue of BHG quilting and patchwork.

This quilt is gorgeous!! You must be so proud of yourself!! Not only did you sew it but you created it from scratch! Good for you!! Love it!
Paulette
What a lovely design. The details are what make that so extra special. I love how the cherries were done ... just simple white stitching and voila! ..highlights on the cherries! Good job!
Cathy
love this quilt it is beautiful, the bird is amazing
I would do clamshells in the background they would look like clouds in the distance...
I for one would love to see a lot of quilting in the background
Kathie
How beautiful. Could you repeat the flowers in the background, giving it the feel of a field of flowers?
I am finally starting a wool quilt that you inspired me to do!
Cathy
Beautiful quilt Debbie...love the idea of quilting more flowers in the background...clamshells in the border...
Do not know what to tell you about the quilting - that's a personal choice i think - but still love the way it came out - lots of little details that just pop!
Wow...it is coming along beautifully! The bird is GOOD!! I'm sure you will find something wonderful to quilt...
This is very pretty! You did a great job and that bird is just too darn cute~
Beautiful! Karmen
I think I would do a free motion background (if you're doing machine quilting). If you're going to hand quilt, maybe some wavy background? Just having it quilted will make the applique pop and really stand out. :)
Laura
The bird is the best part of the design. Good fabric choices.
You are amazing! Every time I think I've seen your best work you create something even better! This is gorgous! I love all the stitching details. I would stick with a simple quilt design for the background...perhaps even echoing the bird shape out to the edge would give it motion but not detract from the beautiful design. Good job!
I like the fabrics you choose for the bird! The whole quilt is just too durn cute!
Judy
just beautiful, I really love it.
It is fabulous!
what about quilting more branches and leaves?
This quilt makes me yearn for spring. Yep, I admit it, I'm tired of the snow and cold. But this is so beautiful --- love the bird and cherries.
I'm loving the embroidery you are doing. It's making the whole piece come alive.
