Vote for Dora and Hooked Antique Cat!

This year I won a contest to receive a wonderful online magazine called the Quilt Pattern Magazine.
They are sponsoring a contest and I entered Dora a few months ago and sadly she is no longer with us.
If you would like to vote for Dora, I have a chance to win quilting prizes. You can go here to Vote and see the photos of the kitties.

Here is the photo I entered. Dora always liked to help me sew.

Recently Betsy of Heavens to Betsy bought my Antique Cat epattern and made a hooked pillow with it. I love the wools she used, it really does look like an antique rug. Betsy has the most wonderful wools and you can see how beautifully they hook up with this piece.

Sampler Border?

Today I hit our folk art quilt store.
I wanted something that had a sampler look to it and the sampler fabric, was too large a print for my piece.
I found one piece, that was perfect, but it was a fat quarter and only one.
So, this is what I ended up with, I think the scroll leaves works well with the piece and when I put it on, the leaves will be going upwards. I was thinking of using the coffee stain, blends better with the tea stain, but I do like a the leaf pattern. What do you think?

I found some tans at the sale table, so bought a few yards to add to my christmas hexagon, stash.
The floral fat quarter is the one I loved, but that was all she had.

And thank you all for the kind words. I know what I had in mind and of course, it didn't come out that way. I do still have things to add a theme, so hoping that brings it all together.

On the way back, we stopped at the cliffs to look at the ocean. We just went on the short path to look at the water, too cold and icy to walk far. I love the look of snow on the rocks.

And this was from a zoom shot. You cannot see seals since they stay farther off, so I zoom in and check them when I get home. No seals in this area, but I thought this made a nice abstract.

Snow Day!

Today was definitely a snow day, woke up to snow and it didn't end till after dinner, so we got quite a bit.
That and the wind, made for some high drifts and the fact that I could not stand outside to get shots without getting snow blown.

It doesn't look high, except for the fact that the fence is 8 feet high.

In the front, my poor lilac bush couldn't handle the weight of the wet snow.

And here is a sneak peak of my new project, lol. Today I finished sewing on some new things and embellishing some parts.

New Giveaway Winners!

Well, I tried and no answer from the previous winners and no email to write to, so remember, if you win contests, please put your email in your profile, or you could lose out on some fun prizes.

I picked two new winners.......

Winner number one from the US is Linda of the Quilted Pineapple!
Winner number two from Canada is Judith Hogan!

Remember, you can pick a pattern for yourself and have one sent to a friend, any pattern from my ecrater site.

I have been working on a new project. I have been feeling better in some ways, but I really messed my ribs up and still pain, so I work on the couch for now, so I am doing more hand sewing for now. I also have a new punched piece that I will be making into a pattern, so that will be coming soon.

Here is a sneak peak of the new piece, can you tell what the theme is?

It's Starting to Look like Christmas!

I was able to finish some things today, so I I have been able to put some things up and finish one project today.
I am keeping simple, since we know how tempting large trees, tinsels and jingle noises to certain furry kitties. I moved the three trees and put them in a corner with some furkins and things that could sit around the tree without getting ruined. It looked nice with the lights on, so I had to go with no flash. I like the dark look though, nice warm feeling. It is hard see, but yes, the toppers are all cats;)

I finished a piece that I found in the Quiltmania magazine. It is a design from Sandy Gervais. Love the issue and the special winter issue is another I want, hope I can find one in our area. I changed a few things on mine, of course. I used an old chenille blanket for the snow and added words to mine. Not sure if I should leave it, like this, or put something on the snow area? I wanted to hang it at the stairs, but I forgot wool doesn't stick to my sticky tape, so need to find a new place. I still have to finish my angel piece, so that can go on the stairs instead.

Finished Birds Hooked Rug

I finished my rug tonight and now I wish I had kept going on the border.
I had more room to fit it on the bench and that would have given me plain space to put objects on, without covering the birds.
But, it is smaller than I wanted, so I need to find a new place for it.
At the moment, my dog is sick, so nothing is going on the floor. I have a few outside in the rain and a few that got hand washed.
I think this one will make a nice wall hanging and being long and thinner, it will give contrast to other shapes on the wall.

Here is the wool that I used for the border. I only took the dark brown parts to use around the edge and a few of the lighter ones.
I can always use the lighter colors in another rug.

And here is the wool yarn that I used for the edge. I like how it varied and matched the border.

And here is the rug. Not the best photo, but you can get the idea of how it all looks together. It really has nice rich hues in it, so good for a light or dark area. I did a quick steam press, so it still needs a better ironing to relax the edges. The rug pattern is by Maria, of Star Rug Company.
