Reindeers Finished!

I finally finished my reindeer piece. I added the word joy, but couldn't picture adding more words, so I went with snowflakes. Not really what I planned, but it will have to be good enough. I tend to make things and if I don't like them, that's life, I hate redoing things;) I think this would be fun to do in a smaller piece with wools or as a punch needle too. Maybe I will give this one to my daughter. I took a night photo, so kept it cropped so you could see the details better. The right side is the same and there is a darker red border on the sides. I didn't realize the other red was more pink but I actually like the shade with the yellowed homespun and blacks. If  you like the design, you can get it from Jan Patek Quilts.

Tomorrow I will try and do an outdoor shot and see if I can get true colors.

I wanted to try a video of the kitties and Izzy was in a playful mood. I thought I might be able to take video and use one of the frames as a photo, but they were all fuzzy, so need to figure that one out. Izzy is a jumper and will go to any length to catch things. It is hard to throw and shoot, so I will have to try cat nip next time;)

As you can see at the end, she stays away from Moki, who sits and gives her the look, he likes to intimidate her. Now that Dora is not harassing him, he has taken that position in the house.

More Moki!

I spent today work and reworking a new punch I am making.
I didn''t like the way it came out, so went with a more textured look with heights.
Hopefully I will finish it tomorrow, there is only so much unpunching and repunching that I will do;)

Moki is usually happy and content living with us. He has his moments and does the howling and crying routine at the door, but then he calms down again. In the cellar he makes the weirdest howling sound, it sounds just like words, lol. Our town shelter has a traveling vet and they made an appointment for Moki next week, so he will get fixed then and hopefully not want to roam anymore. I cannot afford a vet bill right now, so they are paying for it and later when they do their annual auction, I can make some pieces that they can sell, to help them out.

Moki seems to have too much of a fascination with water, he spends most of his time at the sink. I am thinking I need to buy an indoor fountain for the kitties, lol. With three tap water cats, I cannot keep the water running all day;)

Moki at the fountain

Last night I found Moki sitting at the sink, trying to lick the faucet.
I thought, not another one. Two cats who drink out of sinks is bad enough, now I have three.
Dora likes a slow stream, Izzy likes a slow drip and Moki just loves water, lol. I forgot that tuxedos love water.

FIrst he played and splashed it all over. Then he stuck his head in for a drink.

Then he tried the paw method, scooping and licking.

Then he decided to stick his big tongue in, that worked better.
Today Izzy and he touched noses and shared the jjngle ball. Dora, well what can I say, she is very territorial and bossy, so she was not letting him near her. He really wants to play with them, so I am sure someday they will be buddies, but for now Izzy is his friend and Dora is giving her dirty looks, lol.

Catnip High

Dora loves catnip and she knows where I keep it, so it is in a cabinet she cannot open;)
I gave her some today, she loves to eat it and roll in it. And if anyone comes within her claw radius, you better watch out, she seems to think ripping you open is part of the experience. Izzy watched for a while and decided to stay clear, which meant flying through the air to land on the side of safety. Of couse I clicked to late and got her landing.

They both love to jump at things and at night I can hear the thump, thump as they land on the floor. The glass doors are their entertainment for the night, as they jump to try and grab the moths on the other side.

Dora can be vicious when she if on catnip, but then she zones out and goes into la la land, as you can see.

I finished a new piece today and once I finish it off, I will post a picture. I will have a pattern for it, as well as, the dog and kitty I still need to do.

Cats on the Prowl

This week I am making the mad dash to finish up one last present to be mailed and a couple for my kids. I am making a wonky quilt for my daughter and a punched piece for my DIL. I will share photos when I finish.

Today the cats were in their bug mom mode. First Dora decided that 6 am was late enough to sleep in and proceeded to irritate me for an hour until she got bored. Of course I had no intention of getting up, so I ended up over sleeping. Then the two of them spent most of the day tearing through the house, knocking over whatever was in the way. They do not just run, the leap, slide and fly around, so it can be quite a circus at times. I think I should have asked Santa for a video camera, no way will I ever get a shot of them at that speed;)

Dora loves to help with laundry and she was in her stealth mode, hiding in the mesh basket. She makes the cutest face when she is in attack mode, but she always closes her eyes when I take a shot. I thought it was the flash, but realized that Izzy didn't shut her eyes, so it is Dora. She is just being a smart alec and closing them on purpose, haha.

(Dora had too much eggnog;)

This is what we usually call Psycho kitty. She is my son's cat and whenever she comes over she goes into a hissy fit and scares the heck out of anyone who goes near her. He moved and they cannot keep her, so I seem to have gotten stuck with her. She is finally coming upstairs more, and stopped hissing at me. She loves Dora and playing, and dora loves having someone new to harass. I asked my husband to give her a name and he said Isabelle, so she is now Izzy.

( Cat with attitude problem;)
