Friday Freebies!

This week I got several free patterns and made them into punch needle pieces. I was hoping to finish these but as usual, time slipped by and they will have to wait for the weekend. I think a good goal for me this weekend, is to finish all of the pieces I have made this month.

The first is a free design by Kelley of With Hook & Needle. If you haven't checked out the new groups on Facebook lately, there are several groups for all types of textiles arts. This freebie was offered on the group, The Out of Hand Rug Hooker's Group.

I kept my simple and will make it into a hanging pillow. I will also antique it a bit and add yarn cording.
It is a bit bright since I used flash, but I like using brighter colors when I know I am going to age it. Then again, I may keep him as is, it all depends on who I give him to and if they like prim or fun colors.

The next pieces are designs by Ginger of Primitives By The Light Of The Moon. She offered 4 free snowman designs that you can use for the holidays and I did two of them. My plan is to stuff them lightly and make hangers so they can be used as ornaments or hung on pegs, if the recipient wants.

Another great gift idea or maybe for yourselves is a bowl holder. I love making soup and I do reheat it in the microwave, so the bowl gets hot. I like to eat while I watch tv, so this will be a nice way to hold the bowl without burning my hands and a great gift idea. You can find the tutorial at 2 Little Hooligans. My New Friend!

Last week I was the lucky winner of one of Pam's wonderful creations. Some of you know her as Soft in the Head. I have always loved visiting Pam's blog to see what new creations she comes up with each week. She has a wonderful way with creating unique, one of a kind characters and each one has unique details and acessories.

You can see how much everyone love's her creations by the fact that her pieces sell out, the minute she puts them onto her selling sites. I have always wanted one of her pieces and I was so excited that I actually won one and I just love this guy.

His name is Posthumous PODD and he looks wonderful with my fall decor. He even has his own death certificate, morbidly fun. I decided to put him up on a shelve so my kitties don't try to eat his hair, lol.

No riding or walking this weekend, still sore and then Bill got sick from eating bad food. This is when I am happy that I can't eat food like that;) Today I made up some coloring book stitcheries, so they should be done in a few days.

Liberty Lady!

I am still working on the baby quilt but almost done with the main quilting, then I will do the border. When I am working on a larger project, I like to do small things to take a break and have something I can finish quickly and there are a lot of fun, free patterns on the internet.

One place that has wonderful patterns is Bird in the Hand Primitives. Robin has wonderful free patterns that you can use in stitchery, punch needle or rug hooking. I have also done some in fabric as mini quilts, so something for everyone.

I made mine as a mini doll pillow, so I could add it to my americana setting. I kept it simple and sprayed  it with walnut spray to prim it up.

Today I found another free pattern that would be fun to do for next month and easy enough to do in a day. You can find it at Simply Put Plus. I think it would be fun in wool too, great item to make for your July fourth party.

This week I also checked out Bloglovin' and Feedly. I found Bloglovin to be the better of the two, it has a nicer layout and automatically sends a daily feed to my mailbox. Both are easy to set up, just a simple click to transfer your blogs.

In My Garden Stitchery Pillow!

This weekend I took a trip to Jo anns with my coupons and they had Kathy Schmitz's book, Simple Pleasures in Redwork. I have been wanting some of her patterns and this book had the ones I wanted and a lot more. I decided to start with a small project and I also wanted some things to hang on my peg rack, for spring. This piece was perfect and I really enjoyed making it. The orginal design is done in one color, but I wanted a little color to cheer up my rooms.

The colors appear lighter than they actually are. I did not stain this piece, since I wanted the stitchery to show, but you can see the staining in the tea stain muslin that I used, just the right touch.

I also received a wonderful surprise from my friend Sharon today. A wonderful wool pillow to add to my bowl arrangement for spring, a Dogwood flower, love it! I love the textured wools in the piece.

Kitty Cat Punch Needle!

This Christmas, I was gifted a new punch needle called Bonnie's Cat from Belle Prairie Primitives. It is a simple prim cat on a penny wool backing, but I wanted to make some pillows for my friend, with the design.

I am working on some small things right now and doing a lot of cleaning and reorganizing, it is time to get rid of things I no longer use or plan to use, so slow going on the creating front.

I made one pillow and then did cat cut out shapes for the other two, so she could use them as a grouping.

Giveaway Goodies!

This week I received some wonderful gifts and goodies from giveaways, that I entered and I wanted to share them with you.

Brenda from THE RUSTY THIMBLE makes wonderful primitives that she sells in her ETSY STORE and she also has giveaways to share with her readers. I was the lucky winner last month of one of her snowman ornies and I just love him. Her creations have so much character and are beautifully made, a picture does not do it justice. She also surprised me with some extra goodies, a wonderful prim crow, that will look great in a grouping, any time of the year and a beautiful santa charm.

I also want to thank all of you who voted for me in the THIS-N-THAT quilt contest. It seems that 4 of us had the same amount of votes and they were generous enough to give us all prizes. I picked out 3 different yards, one with green print for christmas quilting, the fabric with writing made me think of art quilts, so I will have to come up with ideas to use it with and the zig zag print was neat, lol. It has a bit of a prim look to it, so it will be fun trying to come up with ideas to use it in. I also got Barbara Brackmans new Metropolitan Fair and two mini packs to make mini quilts with. THIS-N-THAT FABRICS is having a great sale on fabrics and charm packs, so if you need to add to your stash, now is a good time to stock up.

New Ornies from Freebies!

I saw a link to a french blog called Scrap Quilt and Stitch for a free pattern and never did find the actual pattern. But, I found another one with 3 cute wool pieces. I loved the moose and had to do it in a stitchery. There are other freebies, as well, so check out the blog and some wonderful free patterns for the holidays.

I made mine into a flat ornie and antiqued it. I think these are nice to hang from a tree or a peg rack.

Then I wanted to make something small and quick to add to a package. I found this fun tree fabric and made some mini tree shapes. I added some balsam to them and then a few ties and a star, and instant ornie for a package and the scent of maine pine for their home.
