Friday Fun!

Another week and I didn't get half of the things, I had planned, done. We are going camping for the weekend on the same spot, so hopefully so big wind storms will come our way again.

I started arranging things in the room, still need to paint the walls and then start on the mural, but I wanted to see how things look. I just threw some flowers in the baskets, later I will do some that match the room, but they are baskets from the flowers that were sent to us and I want to keep them as a memory of Danielle and the wonderful friendships from those who gave us support when we needed it. The long crate on the shelf was also filled with beautiful flowers, and now it will be filled with beach flowers.

I was going to put my chaise on the far wall, but that is where the painting will go and I want to be able to look at it when I am drawing or relaxing, so I think I will move my chaise and table to the other side. I may put her shelf and things on the wall to the right, which you cannot see, but it has a lot of space to hang the framed photo collages, that her friends did for me. Or I may just hang one at a time and change them out, something I can decide on after I paint. The fan light is new, I love how it has a nautical look.

Each Friday I put up a photo and saying, on Danielle's Facebook page. Facebook will leave a page up, if you ask, in memorian. It is something I do for her and for me. This week, I made a heart shape on the beach with red brick stones. While I was building it into a heart, I messed up the sand and when I saw the photo, I noticed a shape, so I enhanced the outline a bit;)

On a lighter note, Bean is still Bean, he wants to play all the time. His new thing is water, before he avoided it, now he wants to play in it and with it. I can only imagine how he will act when he gets out of the car tomorrow and see he is at camp.

And a blast from the past. This is me with my nephews, on top of Mt. Monadnock in NH. Before we had our own kids, we took our nephews camping and hiking with us. I was hoping my son and Nicholas would be coming camping with us, but he is busy with school and work, so hopefully he will slow down before summer is over.

Friday This and That!

This has been a tough week, but we finally decided on a stone and have it being made. I hate not having a stone with her name and a saying and when it is in, we can put some permanent plants in, maybe some small flowering bushes. We are getting an angel holding a heart, so it takes months to carve and polish, as well as doing the writing on the heart, we are going with chiseled instead of laser cutting.

Bean has been keeping me busy, either playing or eating whatever he can get his mouth on. Today I put a new plastic shower liner on and I guess one of the rings fell on the floor, and half of it is missing, so I hope it comes through ok;) We also go to the doggy beach in the mornings, when we can and it is nice getting out so that he can have fun and I get to walk along the beach and go for a swim in the bay.

My computer is acting up and I had to uninstall photoshop, so using my camera, small camera and iPhoto for now and so far, no problems, so hoping if I reinstall it, it will work ok, I hate to get a new computer right now.

Bean was looking up as I tried to take a photo, just as a seagull flew right over the head, wasn't fast enough to catch it with the phone.

I also got the newest issue of Primitive quilts and projects. I am going to work on the orange peel quilt and use my scraps. The background is black in Nancy's quilt, but I am using my tea stained fabric. The bad thing is, it ravels really easily so I cut it larger and I can cut them down later. What do you think of the lighter fabrics? I want to use scraps and thought the tea stained would be better since I can do any color on that. This photo was done with my waterproof camera and iPhoto.

I was trying some rock art with my rock collection and the hearts, using photoshop. I placed them on a blue sheet so I could change the background without affecting the rocks, but it left a bit of a blue cast behind some of the rocks and that is when I crashed, so I couldn't fix it. I used the online photo program and put them in water, it made a nice effect.

Another thing I have been thinking about is a long arm sewing machine. I hate to spend that kind of money on something I am just using for myself, but I want to be able to quilt the quilts I make and not on my regular machine. I did see that they have a table top pfaff for half the price and that might be a better solution so I have a dedicated quilting machine and with the table, it would be easier to move it around. I would love to hear your opinions on what type you use and what you prefer, as well as, why?

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Bill has to work and it is going to be hot as heck, so I will be staying inside most of the time.

The Good and the Bad!

The good news is, the team came today and repaired the line and our water is back. The bad is, it was the whole water line so they had to dig all the way out and the town had requirements for new things that we add to put in, as well, so the cost tripled.

 The bad news, Moki escaped a few times today, but all the noise scared him back in. In other news, Moki is in water heaven, how he missed his running water.

We also had a good day for hiking and I picked a spot that I had been wanting to visit. It is in the same area as our previous walk, but another path and pond, also the site where they filmed the kids on a rock, camping out.

The bad news, the hike was constant, up and down hills and rocks.

The good news, I made it to the rock and couldn't wait to get on top and get some shots of the lake below us. The bad news, I found out, there are no paths around it and I couldn't get past one ledge before I froze, so I had to concede to defeat.

Even with the harder hike, it was well worth a visit. It was such a beautiful area and a nice challenge for me. Hopefully by the end of the week, I will be able to move again, lol. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and prayers for all of you who are being effected by the tornados
