Wedding Pillow Finished!

I finished the pillow today. I decided it needed a corded edge, so went to the store and bought two types and one was too dark and small and the other was just right.

I used regular stuffing and understaffed it slightly so it wouldn't be fat and puffy.
I machine stitched the pieces together and left an opening, everything else is hand stitched. The design was done with a back stitch and pearl cotton, the lettering with 3 strands of floss. after I stuff it, I sewed the opening up to the middle section and left a small hole to place the cording into. That way I didn't have a bump or a raw edge on the bottom, it leaves a nice trim look.

I tried to get the colors and the look of the piece, but it was pouring out today, so no outdoor shots. The colors are creams, but it appears a bit yellow.

And here is the back again. I took an angle shot with shadows so you could see the lettering better, but it is more muted in color, in person.

Here is the design I used, you are welcome to use it for  your own pillow. The original design came from a french site, Broderied'Antan. They have some wonderful free designs, in all types of styles.

When you use the design, place the middle lines in the center of your piece.

Jeff Davis's Daughter Three!

I finished my third lady today, love the fabrics from Barbara's 1862 Battle Hymn fabric. It looks beautiful for the dresses and this quilt. Her flag stick is bent, I might fix it, I might not, lol. On this one, I added some laces, what do you think? I was thinking of adding the laces at the top, but I wanted to keep it simple and prim.

Also, for those of you who would like to win some goodies of your own, Chris at We Love Quilting is having another monthly giveaway. You won't be disappointed, she send wonderful boxes of goodies, a very generous lady.

Davis' Daughter Block Two!

I finished another block, only 4 more lady blocks and one for the middle section, guess I better work faster;) I am staying with the red and blue, mixed with tans and creams, so the dresses will be red, blue and brown shades. The next one will be in the brown family and I am using Barbara Brackman's 1862 Battle Hymn for the dresses and plan on using it for the border, if i can find some in the stores. I do like the look of the original pattern with blue and tans for the sashing and border prints.

I gave this lady, lighter hair and the green is a lighter shade. I am trying to keep them similar with a little bit of change, to mix it  up. I added an eye to this one, which I will do with all of them and I am thinking of adding laces to the boots.

New Fabrics and Prizes

Last week I won a contest from Tak of Saltbox House Quilter.
Imi makes beautiful lace doilies and not only did I win that, but she sent me some beautiful fabric and a charm pack from Jan Patek's line, plus a pattern, I could use them in. Now that is a package that I loved opening and winning.

I also got down to my local quilt store that has the best prim fabric. I needed some black for my pineapple quilt, so I got two types to try out. When I laid them out, I liked the right side pattern, but looking at the photo, I am leaning towards the bottom.
This will be a border around the design, then additional squares and triangles go around that. What one do you like?
