Friday Finish!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. As usual, it came quick, and went by quick, but I enjoyed the moments. I never took any photos, I like to enjoy the moments and not worrying about posting photos. I also feel for those who cannot spend time with family or have lost loved ones, who are not with them, so I kept it low key this year.

I also got sick as usual, but took meds and rested for a few days. I made up a stitchery, so I had something to keep my hands busy and was able to finish it, just in time. I am not sure who did the design, but it was offered on Facebook.

We also got snow before Christmas, so the kids came over and went sledding on the school hill. I bought sleds last year and we never got to use them.

Bill gets the whole week and a half off, so we got out for short walks and rides. Jamestown is always a fun place to go to. Views from every side and we were able to go for short walks, before we froze. There is a path that goes uphill to a point and I decided I wanted to see how far it went. It was a nice path and easy to traverse and came out to the end of the point, so we had nice views from a higher vantage point.

Looking back into the cove.

After we stopped at the state park and looked for glass, not much luck these days. On the way out, I spotted a group of Snow Buntings, a nice surprise.

Today we did a ride around the southern beaches. When it is cold, places that we can drive to and see, without getting out, is always nice. In one area, we have a view of the pond where the boats and ferries go through. Today we spotted some fishermen, throwing in their pots. Not sure if they were crabbing, but looked like crab pots.

In the marsh, we spotted these guys running around the mud flats.

Rain is predicted for the next 3 days, which I don't mind, it will keep me in and I can start working on finishing some quilts. I plan on finishing one Christmas one, and others that need finishing and binding. I have several with a summer, Americana theme, so those will be in the next batch to finish.

I hope this finds you all doing well and would love to know what your plans are for the coming year.

Almost finished!

I got all the stitch work done on my new piece. I still need to add the buttons on the color area. I have a small red heart for one and I wanted to use an anchor button on the other, but can't remember where I put the extras. I am not sure if I should make it into a pillow or a hanging, but I have time since it will be a Christmas present.

As far as the trailer fiasco is going. I joined a group for that type of trailer and saw that the same trailer with a question about towing, with the same truck we have. They all said not to do it, the weight was too much, so now I am debating again. To just cancel and give up for now or go look at a smaller one tomorrow. One has most of the same things, but a big outdoor kitchen, but no indoor table. One has a smaller table, so will decide tomorrow. I really wanted something the family could go in, but if I get bunks I lose the larger kitchens, comfy seats and storage, and that would be nicer for Bill and I.

The photo looks light and bright but the colors are much deeper than they show. I will trim down the border when I decide how to finish it.

We seem to spend more time at the lighthouse, since it is always cooler and the air is so refreshing. It also doesn't hurt that I never tire of the ever changing views.

Lots of wave action with the passing storms.

And with the tide coming in, not the best place to be fishing. It amazes me, how many people stand close to the edges of the cliffs with waves coming in. Every year people are lost who get too close.

Another day we enjoyed a longer walk and just stood and enjoyed the views, along the way. Lots of boaters were out.

Sailboats, Working boats and Skidoos.

And to me, waves are mesmerizing, a few shots with a longer shutter speed.

And in the field, people were flying kites. These two were fun ones. This weekend I need to get things ready for our trip next week, we will be gone till Saturday morning. I am hoping I can just relax, sit in the cove in my kayak and enjoy nature. I hope you all enjoy your weekend and are not getting hit with the smoke, we have had it here, but not too bad.

Monday Musings!

I love getting packages in the mail and today I got two, what a great way to start the day.
My friend Kelley has been making quilts for years and she sent me two full quilt tops and two smaller ones that I can use as table toppers. These are older tops, so lots of fabrics you don't see anymore and beautiful pieced designs that she must have spent hours and hours on. I feel blessed to be able to have something that she made and I can practice my quilting on them. I think I will do hand stitching on the geese and machine quilting on the stars. And, they have blue in them, so they look nice on the new couch.

The colors are not as bright as they appear on the screen. The red and white piece will become a runner and the red and greens, will be a christmas topper. They are sitting on my new couch, the color is called pewter, I call it slate blue, not really sure;)

I belong to a yahoo group hosted by This-n-That fabrics. Linda and Sandy have a wonderful group and they host challenges and giveaways for their members. This week I won a fat quarter and told Linda to surprise me. Well, she couldn't have picked a better fabric, it will go beautiful with my new american quilt as an add on, can't wait to use it. She also sent me a charm pack of little apples for a charity quilt, it will make an adorable quilt for a little girl.

Today was a beautiful day with a cool breeze, perfect day for a walk. We walked along the woodland paths and then onto the beach. It was later in the afternoon, so the fishermen were just finishing up for the day.

The seals are gone, and the rocks have been taken over by the cormorants. Just a beautiful day and just what I needed to relax and get some exercise.
