Awesome Autumn Challenge!

This month This - n - That Fabrics hosted an Awesome Autumn Challenge. I entered my Gourdy's Gang in the contest. If  you would like to see the quilts that were entered and cast a Vote for your favorite quilt, please do. I enjoy challenges, they are fun and they get me to do things that I have been procrastinating on.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I am still coughing and resting, getting tired of resting, so time to push through this miserable cold and start finishing my projects.

Portrait Progress

I have been working on my portait and have most of it done.
Now I need to fix the crooked mouth and weird eyebrow, lol.
This is what happens when you sew, while watching tv;)

The hair is done with yarn, lopi lite. I still have plans to style it a bit and give it some more strands after everything else is finished. I am thinking of ways to shade the face, maybe painting in shadows and highlights. The bowtie needs to be tied, I have no idea how to tie one, so going to look that up. I will also tack down the pleats, so they drape better. Luckily, with hand stitching, I can change things without too much trouble. It is not what I envisioned, but a good learning experience and it is fun to do.

Quilt Challenge

I can finally show one of the projects that I have been working on.
This was for a challenge in our quilt group. Sue Spargo gave us the tree and leaves as a base and then we had to work around that. I used fraktur drawings for my design, and had fun with it. I added yarns and needle felting and buttons and a little of this and that. I started out with free motion quilting on the background and then my machine went on the fritz, ugh. So, I had to finish the rest by hand and then did a large black scroll around the red border. Of course I could not get a decent picture and the nice prim look. My Quilt Challenge

I belong to a great primitive quilting group and this summer we had a quilt challenge.
We had to send a partner, 3 fat quarters and any embellishments we wanted.
This is what I was sent to work with.



I have been working on and off all summer and had no idea what I was doing, just added as I went and this is what I came up with. I will add some tabs to the top to hang it with, maybe on the kitchen window or it might be a present for someone who loves chickens and roosters;) It is hard to see on the quilt, but there is a lot of stitching with the thread she gave me, all hand done.
