Friday Finish!

First I want to appologize to those who haven't gotten comments from me, on their blogs. For some reason I cannot post if I do the security questions, they just keep coming at me, so I just comment and it shows up as going through, but then I get returned mail, saying it didn't. So, I have been visiting and commenting, just need to figure out how to get mine to go through.

This week I had some tries that didn't work, projects I couldn't start and one project I got to finish. The design was offered by Homespun Whimsy on Facebook. She also has a block of the month with sheep, if you are interested in checking out Homespun Whimsy on Facebook.

I reduced the pattern by 20% and made a little pillow, that measures 9" x 6 1/2". I trace my design with a blue embroidery marker that washes off. Then I color in the design with colored pencils, then I stitch the design. This time I didn't use fabric medium but the color stayed when I wet patted around it to get the blue marks off.

And then there was the project I wanted to come out nice. I used Americana decoupage on this one and it bled more than the others. I also messed up on the sizing to fit the canvas. I really love the photo and saying, so I will have to try it in a different type of art piece.

And the project I couldn't get started. I was gifted the rolls of braiding wool and decided to make a scrappy rug for the kitchen. But, I cannot find my braid aids. I found 2 small ones and the box, but not the third one or the larger set of three. I am worried they went out with other items I gave away. I can braid without them, but I think it would be easier with them.

I will try braiding this weekend without them to see how I do. I have tons of scrap, rough wools so I am going to cut them into braid strips and make small rugs for entry ways and maybe some for the pet dishes. A good way to use up scrap stash that is not really good for hooking and it is more durable for those areas.

And then there is the total disaster. I decided it was time to shave Izzy. She will let me do it for so long, so I give her some canned food and she sits still for a few minutes. The problem was, I forgot to check the blade length so it shaved too close. Then she moved too much, so she is shaved mostly on the top and sides and looks like a lawnmower ran over her, lol. I think I need to get a pill to put her in a sleep state, then I could just get it done quickly and get her nails too.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend. We have good weather coming in, so I will definitely be outside as much as possible.

Don't understand Why would you consider shaving your cat? If there are allergies then give that dear pet a home where there are no allergies.

Oh my heck....I nearly spit my newly poured glass of wine all over my iPad when I came to that photo of Izzy... LOL....It comes close to our little Shih Tzu years ago when my husband tried his hand at grooming... I am still giggling 20 years later. Braiding tools?? Hmmmm....I have only ever braided a finish around hooked mats, and have never used a tool (my neighbor doesn’t count, does she??? ;-) )....I will be interested and looking forward to your trials. Sweet little pillow finish.... Happy weekend! Robin

Sweet little pillow - very cheerful. I'm sure your photo work will improve with practice... I can still recognise your Hubby and Nick..

I never do the security questions, where it says prove you're not a robot I just ignore it. Maybe try that? Although I know a few folks are having troubles with blogger right now, trying to leave comments.
LOVE your new projects, especially that photo. GORGEOUS. The pic of Izzy is too funny!!!!

I had to laugh at Izzy's new do!
@ Saundra - I have a cat that in spring, will turn from nicely groomed to huge mats seemingly overnight. I've considered giving her a haircut, but it always takes me by surprise. A good haircut before it happens would probably be less traumatic than getting the mats off her.

I had a problem with not being able to leave comments and it turned out to be my own browser. Apparently it was set to not accept 3rd party cookies - as soon as I turned that off everything worked. Every time I spybot my computer these cookies get turned off and I have to turn them on again - hope some of this makes sense. When leaving a comment don't worry about the robot, ignore that box and just click on publish - this always works for me. Blogger can be a royal pain sometimes - maybe that's why so many like IG. I quite like the 'picture' of Nick and his grandpa just the way it is.

Why are you shaving Izzy? Good Lord mine won't tolerate having their nails clipped! I brush Melrose all.the.time and he still gets belly mats...takes ages to brush/ clip them off..I'm almost ready to give up blogging I have so many issues...

Poor Izzy. I would think trying to shave a cat is like trying to nail jello to a tree.

Long ago, someone in our old neighborhood had a large shepherd that they shaved every spring. Nikko doesn't even like to be brushed. I take her out on a windy day and swipe her sides with a wire brush. As for trimming nails. even though she was taught to "shake hands", she pulls her foot back at the last minute, not wanting to be touched.
I don't know what is going on with Mr. Google and blogger these days. Why do they keep fixing things that ain't broke? ... comments blocked by blogs I have followed foe many years! Just about the time one problem is solved, they seem to come up with another
