New Bunny Pattern!

This week I was in the mood to make something new and fun, so I made up some Bunnies. I got such a great response from them on Facebook and requests for a pattern, that I made one. I wanted to make something I could use up my scraps on and the quilted bunny uses lots of different colors and the second bunny uses white and brown shades. I also did each one differently and added how I did them in the directions.

I hope you like the new bunnies, they are 5" tall and I antiqued them. If you are interested in making your own, you can order the pattern with the link on the left column.

I had so much fun making them, so I gave myself a rest day, they are hard on my arm. Today I made another one that is 6" tall. I did it in the crazy quilt style, but on this I made a different nose, a raised, punched version. I think I could make a lot more if my arm wasn't hurting and a lot of people want me to make them some, so maybe next week. These are great to make for yourself or shows and make extra for your friends.

I hope you all have a nice weekend. We had snow today and cold all weekend, so maybe a ride. My son's birthday was this week so we are having them over for dinner on Sunday.

Happy Present!

Sometimes when we feel down or sick, we need something to cheer us up. When I was little my mom would get us a happy present when we were sick and stuck on the couch all week.

Last month I won a giveaway hosted by Brenda of The Rusty Thimble. Brenda makes the most wonderful prim items, from pillows and ornies, to dolls and holiday items. This month she is giving away a wonderful americana piece. If you love prim items but don't have the time to make your own, visit Brenda's Etsy Store, she has a lot of wonderful items for sale and she changes her stock regularly and seasonally.

Brenda waited to send my gift and I am glad she did, I was not ready to get a gift but today it arrived and it was perfect timing. I needed a happy present to lift my spirits, it has been a long day and lots of laundry and organizing clothes.

My bunny is so wonderful, I love her looks and clothes and she is a lot bigger than I realized, so she sits beautifully on the shelf with the antique crazy piece. I think she will stay up for the rest of the season and maybe she can be my garden bunny for the summer.

I have also been stitching this week, slowly but I am in no hurry, it keeps my hand and mind busy and it is nice to do something normal when I can. We also went to church with our son and my sweet grand baby, having happy moments with him helps me to get through the tough moments. I appreciate all of your comments and support and I do have future plans that I will work on when I can catch up on sleep and my mind is not so jumbled. I cannot dwell on the pain and the senselessness of it all. I will be starting a new blog in memory of my daughter to help others and for future charity events.

I hope you enjoy my little stitchery, it is a block by Theodore Cleaves and she has graciously offered the whole set for free. I love the designs and they make me happy as I work on them. I may make smaller quilts or a larger one, but for now I just stitch and enjoy the process.

Wool Quilt!

I decided to take out one of my unfinished projects and finish it, my wool quilt. I had a few things to sew down and some stitchery to add faces and windows, and finished that. Then I laid it out on the backing I am using for it. My original plan was to make the blocks, then sew scraps of wool together to fill in the spaces. But, I have no idea what layout I had to do that, makes no sense to me now, lol.

So, I need to rethink it, maybe make a few more blocks and still do some fillers. I am thinking that, instead of sewing the pieces together, I might work it as a crazy quilt. I can use a scrap piece of backing and lay the pieces down and then add wool and overlay it to the back and stitch it down that way. Something to think about and mull over.

The blocks were done with various patterns that I have in books, you will see a bit of Jan patek in a few of them. It is a fun way to make your own quilt, pick out appliques that you like and make them into one quilt. Any suggestions or ideas, are appreciated!

The top block is a possibility for another applique piece. This is what happens when you put something away for a year, you forget what you were doing;)
