Cross Stitch Kitties

This weekend, our group, USAPrim, had our monthly retreat. We pick a theme and then make items with that theme.
This month the theme was kitties, so I made a few little cross stitch pieces.

I made two of my stuffed kitties, they are fun to do and great for presents. I realized when I looked at the photo, that one kitty has a smirk like Dora and the other the aloof, cockeye look of Izzy. It was unintentional and the only reason that the one looks like Dora, is because I forgot the put the eyes on, so it made that funny face, lol.

The Best Friends is a design by Betty, Primitive Bettys. She gave us the pattern so we could it for our kitty retreat. I made it into a little pin keep.

Okay, I REALLY love this grouping! What fabric (or fabric treatment) is that? I think it's great that they came out like your kitties!

I use regular aida cloth and when the piece is finished, I spray it with walnut ink. I water mine down, so it soaks into the fabric and then use the dryer rack to set the ink.

Walnut ink, eh? this stuff is in everything I like (so it seems) but I still haven't tried it! I see that it is Aida; and that it gets a bit of a "checkerboard" finish as a result. Beautiful. Thanks for the info!
