Today We Said Goodbye…….

It has been a long hard week and I know the days to come will be just as hard as we are reminded of our precious loss, but I have also learned that my daughter was not just special to us, but so many people whose lives she touched.

I wanted to thank you all for the wonderful comments and messages, as well as emails, cards and gifts. May God bless each and everyone of you for giving me the strength to get through this week, by filling me with your love and compassion.

I wanted the things for Danielle's funeral to be personal and made by me when possible. I made a photo  to use for the cards and the poem is what was on the backside.

Miss Me, But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little—but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that was once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the master’s plan, a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know.
Bear your sorrow in good deeds. Miss me, but let me go.

What a lovely photo and word to share with those with you and also to share them with us. Take care, one step at a time, one breath at a time, one day at a time.

May she be at peace.

Gone From My Sight

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come together.

Then someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!”

“Gone where?”

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and she is just as able to bear her load of lining freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!”, there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”

And that is dying.
