Friday Finishes!

It is nice to have a week where I can get more projects done and still keep up at home. I have been dosing for all the colds and it is helping with my lyme, as well. So, I still have my moments, but I have more energy this week and hopefully it will keep up.

The first thing I made was a pillow. I do enjoy doing stitchery while I rest and watch tv. Lori Brechlin offered a new pattern on the various Facebook groups. She also offered it on her blog, Notforgotten Farm, if you would like to make one of your own. I did half of the design, there is also a basket with strawberries, but I wanted to keep mine smaller.

I also finished painting a box for my new punch needle piece. I glued the piece to the box, which I sanded and antiqued, after I painted it. I like how it looks and might just keep this one. I put it on a table with my painting and now I need to make a topper for the table, to match.

Here is a close up of the box, I use folk art antique medium, mixed with water, to age wood.

And I had time to make the newest stitchery from Kathy Schmitz's, One Stitch Club. It is fun to get something new each month and only two dollars. I liked how the colors pop on this one. I used colored pencils but no fabric medium, so the colors stayed more intense. I had to rinse it off, quite a few times to get the blue out and it held the color.

And yesterday was my son's birthday. I find joy in the memories of him when he was younger and the joys since he has become a father and made me a grandmother. Tomorrow we will have them over for a little dinner party. With the weather and the flu's, I haven't been able to see much of them this winter, so hopefully we will all stay healthy and spring will be here soon.

May you all find your own joys in life and be blessed with good health.

Friday Finishes and Fotos!

This week was a slow one for me, I think the holidays wore me out and I just need some rest time. I love to do simple projects while I watch tv when I am resting, so I worked up a few stitcheries this week.

The first is from Kathy Schmitz's One stitch at a time club. The sample was done as a pin cushion, but as usual I changed it and added some words for fun. They will be fun to use as bowl fillers for Easter.

The second was a freebie from Kathy, Strawberry pincushions. The only thing I did different was to change the topper, keeping mine simple and more prim. The colors are off, it is darker and done on tea stained muslin, but I had to use my zoom to get photos tonight.

Another thing I did this week was take back my wide angle lens. I decided I would be better off with a zoom, so Bill took it back and ordered the zoom and I got that, this week. The problem is, I went to take photos tonight and realized the wide angle was on the camera, ughs, I took back the wrong lens. I cannot believe they didn't check the box, I could have put junk in there, for all they knew. So now I have to get up there and give them the right lens and hope mine is still there.

I took a few photos to try it. For some reason, no birds were around when I wanted them to be, lol. But, a woodpecker was busy in my neighbor's tree so I took a few shots. He was a good distance up and the limbs made it hard to focus well, but I think it came out nicely, considering.

I also tried taking photos of Bean, but he does not stay still. I got one as he was coming back with a stick. I cropped it to close up and I think I got nice definition for a crop of a zoom. Usually if i do this, all I get is a blurry object and Bean was in motion. Hopefully we can get out on Sunday, seems we have a storm coming in tomorrow. We will need to get out and get supplies and things before it hits. I hope you all stay safe from the storms and enjoy your weekend.

Friday Finish!

It is friday and I have been going non stop all week, trying to get ready for our trip. For those who don't know, I have food allergies, so I have to plan around that, one thing is making 4 batches of cookies. They are oatmeal with grated apple, so they are my snack food and somewhat healthy and I do eat a lot of them;)

I saved some fruit salad for a lunch snack on the drive, dried pineapple and I froze fried rice with chicken for our first night dinner. Sunday we may go out, for our anniversary, but it all depends on how I feel. There are lots of places that have lobster and I love being able to sit out on the deck and enjoy dinner while we watch the boats in the harbor, but it also might rain, so we shall see.

No big plans, just resting and enjoying the house and the area, lots of walks and some hikes, Bean will love that. Today I got everything left to do, done. Bedding is cleaned, laundry is done, garden watered and the list goes on. I still have to vacuum, it is humid today and it is still humid, but it should cool down, soon.

This week Buttermilk Basin released her new BOM, I love doing these, easy to get ready and I can sew it up while I watch tv. And did you know, she is hosting another blog hop and a new design each day, so you don't want to miss this one. Not the best photo, my flash was acting up again, I think I need to complain. It was a less expensive one, but I would it expect to work right.

That reminds me, I need to clean my camera and charge my small one;)

And of course Bean, he has his own bag packed, filled with toys and goodies for the trip as well as a travel bag for the car ride. I was in a store and saw a life jacket on sale so I had to get it. I have no idea if he will go paddling with us, but at least I have one now and if we decide to go sailing, he can wear it on the boat. It has handles so if he does fall over, we can grab him and pull him in. He does not like wearing it;)

We are supposed to have WiFi so I will try and post each day with photos. I am nervous about going, I will either be able to relax and take my  mind off of things for the week or freak out and come running home, but I have never going to Maine where I didn't feel better once I crossed the state line.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and hopefully the next posts will be from Maine.
