Friday Finish!

A new month and a new stitchery by Kathy Schmitz. This one was a bit generic so I decided to reduce it a bit and make a lavender pillow and have fun with colors. I enjoy stitching at night while I watch tv, so these are fun to do. Tonight I started on another new project, Church cat by Cheri Saffiote. I won it in the weekly contest and had it ready to start, so now I can just enjoy stitching it together.

With the heat that never ends, the only place to go, is the beach. We have been going to the same beach on the island and usually there are only a few people. I was finally able to get out in my little kayak, I love to just put around in the cove and ride on the waves.

Another day I enjoyed swimming, sometimes It is just too hot, and the water is the best place to be.

A view from the rocky cliff, something I never get sick of seeing.

On this day I found a few more treasures and a large piece of colored pottery. The whale shaped rock was a fun find.

And at home, enjoying my feathered friends. The heat seems to have bough out more visitors and more. young. I love seeing the Goldfinches in my neighbor's yard, but I still want to get up close without them flying off. Flowers are from my side garden.

Today I stayed home, too hot to be at the beach and I needed a rest. I enjoyed some time in the side yard, watching the birds at my other feeder and the bird bath area. These two crows are quite the characters.

I also had a lot of Blue Jays, the young are eating on their own now and less shy than the adults.

A White Breasted Nuthatch, Mourning Doves, a crow and my resident Chipmunk, all came to visit today. I also saw a few others who were either too far or too fast to catch. I hope everyone had a good week and fun plans for the weekend.

Friday Finish!

This week I wanted to make some lavender pillows with a design by Cheri Saffiote. It is part of a larger pattern and I reduced the chickens to fit a small pillow. I was thinking of someone who likes chickens, as a gift for Christmas.

We also spent a few afternoons at the beach. The surf was rough at one beach, so not great for swimming. We were able to find space at another on the quieter side, so it was nice to swim in calmer water with a sandy bottom. I was amused by this young, Great Black-Backed gull, squawking behind his mother, I guess it was it's first time swimming.

Of course I found a few treasures while walking on the shoreline. One item was hidden in the sand, looks like a can opener, but too big, still trying to figure out what it is. It is not solid, it is thinner and molded in the back, so wouldn't be a great tool.

And I am enjoying, all the young birds who are visiting now. A couple of Chipping Sparrows resting in the tree.

I also spotted a Goldfinch, feasting on my neighbors sunflowers, and a young Bluejay has been coming to visit.

Some birds are harder to ID, but this young house sparrow came with it's dad, who had the red coloring. The young Bluejay is a curious fellow. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I have been up to and my feathered visitors. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Friday finish and starts!

This week seemed to go by too quickly and as usual, I didn't get as much done. More time spent getting ready for Easter and getting out on nice days.

I did put a new piece together, I have had it for years and decided it was time to make it. I have most of the pieces cut out, so I could make sure I got the layout right. The design is by Crane Design, called Lighthouse Landing.

I also painted some new rocks. I enjoy doing happy pieces that make me smile and hopefully, will make others smile when they find them.

Last weekend we took a drive to Connecticut. A few nice walks at a few parks.

One park still has the old farm buildings left.

And lots of birds at the parks, but as usual, they hid or flew away when I got the camera out. I found an owl in a tree, he stayed still.

During the week we spent time at the beach, in the afternoon. The tide was always coming in, but I still found some nice treasures and got nice walks in.

Today we got out for last minute shopping and spent the rest of the day, at the beach. This is a Long Beach, so we got a nice walk in and found some nice treasures, which are in the 4th glass photo. We walked as far as we could go, which ended at a rocky barrier. Next time we will have to find a place to park and walk all the way to the lighthouse area.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend and a Blessed Easter Day.
