Friday Finish with Bean!

Another week and I haven't gotten as much as I planned, done. Bean does take up a lot of my time, lots of walks and keeping an eye on him so he doesn't eat everything he can find. He has lots of toys but always seems to want something he can't have.

My sister was up for a visit, so I got her things finished and forgot to take a photo of the snowman mat. It is a design I have made before but with hers, I used buttons on his front for a fun piece. I couldn't find a basket for the snow angel, so I had my husband cut out a hornbook for it. The design is by Brenda Gervais and she gives the template for the hornbook with the pattern. I did not stain this piece since my sister isn't into prim.

Bean loves to chase and carry things. I got him a stuffed sheep, it is now a sheep, minus the stuffing. The head was made of a loose linen, not a good material for a dog toy. He can now walk up stairs, but still afraid to go down. He can get off the couch, by taking a flying leap and today he was using his tongue to try and open his cage, the boy is getting too smart for his own good.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. We have nice weather coming back, so it looks like the perfect time to go for some walks with Bean.

Friday Finishes ….. Almost

It as a slow week this week, but I did finish a new punch needle piece. My friend Kelley sent me a pattern, a few years ago and I decided it was time to finally do it. The design is by Brenda Gervais and she put hers on a hornbook. I am still deciding on how I want to finish mine, I need to go down to my supplies and see what fun things I have to mount it on or maybe make my own.

I still need to age it a bit, I don't want to darken it too much but I want it to look old. I used different heights on this one, so the letters stick out a little more and the light background is at the shortest height.

Today I sat around waiting to feel better so I could clean the house, that never  happened. I gave up and started a new punch needle. This is a freebie from Robin of Bird In The Hand Primitives. She has put up two freebies, so check them out, both are fun to do in any medium.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

New Mermaid Punch Needle

I finished a new punch needle today, another mermaid in my series. This one is a traditional style mermaid with my own style and borders. I have a new booklet out with the mermaids that I have done, if you would like to make your own.

The piece is placed on one of my own hornbooks that was painted with a black over gold and then antiqued. The whale's tail design works so nicely with the mermaids.

You can find my patterns at my ecrater site: http://woolensails.ecrater.com/
This piece will be available tonight on ebay if you are interested in purchasing this newest piece.
