Today I decided to go to the town beach to start our paddle. It is close, for residents only, in the summer, no thieves and it saves a mile of paddling to get out of the cove. It was sunny, but cooler, so perfect for paddling.
Once out of the beach cove, we pass the island, wouldn't it be fun to live here.
I wanted to go down the bay today, so we headed straight for the bridge and this is what I was met with. Lots of roiling waves, try taking a photo in this and not hit a piling, lol.
The beach on the other side of the bridge is where we made landing. The perfect place to rest and enjoy the scenery. It was way too windy and rough to go any further, so we sat here for awhile and enjoyed a swim and a snack.
There was magic in the waters today, we even caught a glimpse of a mermaid.
And a special treat, her puppy came out and rested on the beach. The sun hurt his eyes, so I lent him my glasses.
On the way back, we came upon some Cormorants, who as usual didn't want use too close.
The last of the flock taking off.
And now for the giveaway. On the fourth photo, what do you think is in the water? The first right guess will win a free epattern of their choice and I will draw one name from all the entries to receive an epattern, as well. I will take guesses until 10 pm, this Wednesday night.
I am going to guess seals. I didn't think there would be seals along the Rhode Island coast but I looked it up and evidently there is some kind part of the year. I am just assuming you were in a bay leading into the ocean.
ReplyDeleteSince Karen guessed a seal, I'll guess a dolphin.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics.

I wish I could tell how long it was like longer than your kayak? I feel like it could be a whale breeching.

Well, since one can enlarge the photo and see an arm. My guess is that it is you, Debra.
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of the dog. What is that green stuff on its head? Looks rather gross, I hope that didn't come out of the water. But I love the sunglasses, really cute.

ReplyDeleteI'm guessing a person snorkeling
ReplyDeleteand not Jaws-which is always my first thought when I see anything not easily recognizable in the water--ocean, lake, pool. I think I was too young when I saw Jaws at the movie theater!
Your photos are wonderful. thanks for a fun give away
I think it's your dh... pretending to be Tom Hanks! lol! The dog is cute! What a great day for a paddle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place you live near. Since I don't know much about the are, I will stick with your hint and guess that it is indeed the mermaid that is in the water!
ReplyDeleteyou sure do have some great weather where you live.
ReplyDeleteI am going to guess a seal.
Is that a sneaky little cormorant diving under the water looking for his dinner?
ReplyDeleteI'll guess an otter. Lovely photos and a lovely for kayaking.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice outing you had! I would guess it is a log coming to shore. Love the pictures, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour little image on the shore looks like a cute seal puppy face, so will guess it is a seal.

ReplyDeleteSince your beach vignette has the sweet face of a baby seal pup, my guess is Seal.
