The Spirit of Giving Giveaway!

CSN online stores, an online superstore, offering Briefcases, Household goods, electronics and more, has made me an offer, to either review a product or offer a gift certificate to my followers. In keeping with the Spirit of Giving, I will be hosting a giveaway for a $55.00 certificate, good to use at any one of their 200 plus stores.

With the economy the way it is, many families are having hard times this year.
Many parents are out of work and looking for new jobs. What better gift to give than a new Briefcase, to carry their portfolio, giving them that professional appearance, to make an impression at their interview. The photo below is one of many, that you can buy with your certificate.

To enter, leave a comment, telling us a way in which you help others during the holiday. Or a quick and easy craft idea that would make a great gift for residents in a nursing home, shelters, etc. If you are not a crafter, then tell me, what you would buy with your CSN gift certificate.

This contest is open to all followers, new followers are welcome.
The winner can use the gift code to buy something for their family or use it as a gift for someone in need. If the winner would like to pass the gift onto someone in need, you can send them the gift code, or email me their address and I will send them the gift code with a note that it is a gift from a special santa or your name, whichever you prefer. So.... don't forgo this wonderful giveaway. If you are like most families, this is a great way to help out this Christmas and if you are doing well, you can enter and help someone else.

Contest is open until December 7'th, just in time for the holidays!
Winners will be chosen by a Random Number Generator.
Shipping for this prize is only available in the USA and Canada.
If you have any questions, please free free to email me.

  1. One thing we do with our daughters to help others during the holidays is the their school Giving Tree. There is a Christmas Tree set up outside the school office that has paper tags hanging all over it with items families in our community need. We go with the girls together and pick tags off the tree to buy for these families. Once we buy the items, we return them with the tags and the school delivers them to those families in need in our community.

  2. Ooh...A gift certificate would be lovely to win! At the holidays we do several things to spread the season of giving. First of all, we take a couple of tags from our giving tree at church...these tags are for needy children who live right in our school district. Another thing we do is sing in a group of carolers who visit the nursing home in town.
    Thanks for offering this giveaway.

  3. Hmmmm....what I do to help others during the holidays?
I just went through all my boys books and toys and donated them to a family who recently had to relocate during an emergency and had nothing.

We collected lots of food for the local food pantry for the holidays. The boys loved going house to house and wanted to visit with everyone....it was cute.

I have family members who have been unemployed for 2 years and we provide Christmas for them.

Fun holiday crafts to give to a person in a nursing home-
how about the mug mats that everyone seems to be making. I think it would be nice if everyone had one of their own next to their bed.

That's all I can think of tonight....but then again....it is midnight!!

    Smiles,
    Kelly

  4. I help others by donating alot of food to my local food bank for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also, this year I have been trying to buy extra christmas presents for my 3 little cousins. Their mom can't afford much this year and I want them to be able to have a christmas.

  5. There are so many wonderful opportunities to help others at this time of year. Giving coats, mittens and hats for kids in need; donating food to families who can't afford a nice Christmas meal; donating to Toys for Tots. Thanks for the great giveaway! :0)

  7. What a great giveaway.

Helping others during the holiday season: I always always drop money in the buckets. My sister just came to see me yesterday with a large bag of oranges and nuts and she was walking the neighborhood handing these out I thought that was such a great idea!! I always try to lift a persons spirits when I notice that they are down I will make sure to reach out and wish them a wonderful blessed holiday.

Food is the great gift you can give anyone in need.

I would use the gift certificate to purchase something for my home that is in need of almost everything, I feel so blessed to finally have one but have yet to fill it up with anything

Wishing you a wonderful Holiday season
    Brenda

  8. Hi Sweetie...
What a wonderful giveaway and yes just in time for the holiday.

Well every year, DH and I forgo the shopping for each other, and we each choose a name from the Angel Tree in the mall and shop for them. We have (8) grandchildren so we are limited, but at least we are able to help 2 children in need. I have also been donating a turkey to the shelter each year. Every little bit helps.

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to win such a great prize. One of us is going to be a lucky ducky.

I am Country Wings in Phoenix your newest follower. I would love to have you stop by and say hi. I love meeting new friends and sharing ideas. I would be thrilled if you followed my blog home as well. Many hugs sweetie...Sherry

  9. Debbie,
Since my disability curbed my discretionary spending, I take part each year in the blanket drive. I will spend the year finding clean, almost new blankets at garage sales and pick up a couple of new ones in the right after Christmas sales.
Then this past weekend, I took 22 different blankets to the drive. It comes at a good time for we are to have temps hit the high 20s in the next few days.

This has been a tradition since I worked at the newspaper sponsoring the drive.

  10. Since Hubby is a former Marine, we always contribute to Toys for Tots for Christmas. Also, during the summer our family gets together and does a garage sale. The funds finance a family get away and then we donate everything that's left to a charity. This year we had lots of childrens clothes left that we brought to a Domestic Abuse Shelter. These families often leave home in a hurry and can use most everything.

  11. We always make a complete meal for a family in need.

I'd use it toward a guidecraft kitchen helper. Thanks for the chance!

  12. At work I set up a large 7' tall "bare branch" tree that becomes our "Hat & Mitten" tree. As parents buy mitts or hats for their children they often buy an extra pair for the tree. It looks quite festive with color by New Years when we donate all the items to the Base Chaplain to help families in need.

We host "Create a Card" nights for families (free) and we provide all the materials for making cards. For every card they make for their families they also make one that we send to our troops in a box full of things they want and need.

Crafts? Little sachets' blanketstitched and filled with lavendar or balsam. A 6 year old can blanket stitch! Cup cuffs (to protect your hands from heat) are easily made with a rectangle of wool cut 3" wide and slightly larger than the circumfrence of the cup. Just stitch it to form a circle and slide the wooly sleeve on your cup. Embellish with wool circles or stitchery or buttons or whatever!

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  15. I would love to win the giveaway!

For giving, I like to pack shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Each shoe box is shipped somewhere in the world to a needy child. I pack school supplies, hygiene items, toys, and candy. Some of the simplest things that bring someone joy!

  17. I try to do a couple of different things to help others during the holidays. But some that I have done for years and will continue to do as long as I can, is help provide gifts for children living in children centers and/or foster care. I also like to help out at a homeless shelter for families, where donations also allow the parents the feeling of shopping for gifts that Santa will deliver to their room on Christmas eve, for their kids to have gifts to open Christmas morning.

  18. Our quilt guild gathers food for the food pantry in our county and instead of exchanging presents among ourselves we each bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to our local Division of Family Services.

  19. Well Gary and I donated to a local shelter and we will be providing food for 200 hundred people Christmas day. Also I donate money to our local TV station during Christmas to help some children have toys.
I just can not enjoy myself during the holidays knowing that there are people hurting, so by even doing this small amount I do know there are some people at least are having something.

  23. This year I have collected a few puzzles that I will take to our local nursing home. Last year I crocheted some slippers.
We also take our old coats to the coat & hat drive.
There are so many places that could use some extra help, I wish I could do more.
    Great Giveaway!

  30. Deb, what a cool giveaway!
At Christmas, each of my kids choose a child from the angel trees at our church. As well as one each for operation Christmas child. They buy their child a present or two, and wrap it - then we take it to our church and participate in organizing all the gifts and food drive - where we bag up two large grocery sacks of food for each family, and go deliver them. It's like a secret santa in a way, and teaches them to give to those who don't have.

A great quick craft to make for the nursing home residents - are heatable rice packs!! They are quick, and super easy! I am making all my Christmas gifts this year - and these are great to have around! I made mine with separate decorative covers, so you can take them off and wash them when they start to look grungy :) I made super long ones to go around your lower back or over your shoulders, and smaller ones for pinpoint areas. They would be wonderful for arthritic hands, shoulders, you name it! :D

  31. Lately I've been buying TP and toiletries to donate at work for our paper drive...soon I'll be donating to the food drive...we have many fund raising events all year long at the hospital for the less fortunate in our area...and have contests between the departments to see who can donate the most!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I also get my kids to pick 2 children each off of the angel trees...being one that was adopted, I see how fortunate my life has been and I see how easily I could have one of the children sent to an orphage.

It is also truly a selfish thing on me part...bc you would not believe the JOY it fills ME with to see MY children get so into the giving spirit...I am so grateful that they recognize the true meaning of Christmas.
