Last week I wanted to try some angels that I got from Tiffany's site and since they were smaller, I made up two of them.
The first one I added a face and some hearts around her. The dress is an over dyed dmc floss. The wings are an over dyed wool floss, that was gifted to me.
The second angel, I did in a plum/purple and the yellow wool wings. I also left it as is, this is the actual design. I used dmc variegated, linen floss for the background. I think it looks much more primitive, than the first. When I do the pictures on my screen, they have the actual colors, but when they hit the web page, they tend to wash out. My pieces are always darker in person. I also didn't add an edge, so do you think it looks good without one or do you prefer the wool yarn edge? These are not for sale, they will be gifted.
Hi Debbie, I kind of like the "no edge" look. Love both of them. You did, as always.... a great job on them.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are very nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!

I love both of them Debbie :) not much help here.
ReplyDeleteI love them both!! Guess I'm not much help either. You do such awesome work!! Whoever these gifts are for...are some lucky ladies. I just know that they will love them!!

I vote for the edge. I think it gives a small "frame" to the piece. I usually do a cord edging, but have done something plain, too. If you're not sure, just make another one! :)

My vote is for something around the edge....I like the way it frames it. However, they are both really sweet!
ReplyDeleteBoth angels look great and each has it's own personal touch! They will make great gifts.
ReplyDeleteCute,cute,CUTE!
ReplyDeleteLovely angels, Debbie! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! I am new to hooking and this is my first visit to your blog. It won't be my last! What is Tiffany's site that you mentioned?
ReplyDeleteSorry about forgetting a link. It is in now, so you can click on her name to see all her wonderful designs.

Hey Debbie...ohman, I missed these. How cute!!! I think having a frame is good, so definitely some kind of border. These are great!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog! I, too, make my husband stop at cemeteries. Finally, he's on the look out for them and has gotten involved in finding interesting epitaphs. As a working artist, out of town trips can easily be turned into legal, partial tax deductions because there's always a cemetery and I always find a new image, rubbing, or special phrase left on a tombstone. I'm working toward a solo installation next month....so please stop back to my blog again and thanks for the kind words of support. They mean the world to me!
Susan
