Braided Quilt

I have been working on my braids and today I put the rows together, so I could see how it looked on the bed.
Not really thrilled with the design for my bedroom and it does match the couch nicely, so I am going to stop and keep it this size for the couch and that way it will be a nice throw if anyone has a sick day.

Next I will add a border around the outer edges and quilt it. Not sure how I should quilt it, any suggestions are appreciated.
I seriously need a new bedroom set, the bed is wobbly and i want a simple one with no foot board and my bureaus are the first ones we ever bought and falling apart.

One problem with making the braid with chisels is, my die seems to be off. Seems every die I get, has a problem, so I wrote accuquilt, but no reply yet. Maybe they are sick of hearing from me, lol. Can I help it if I have bad luck or the company I get them from, seems to get all the bad ones? I use my free rewards to get them, so it goes through amazon and depends on who has the best price.

You can see by the ruler, how the flat end, is cutting strangely.

And here is what some look like when I sew them together. It made it hard to sew them properly, since that edge was throwing me off. If I had to stop and cut each one as I went, it would have taken me forever. I did enjoy using the chisel die though, it went fast and made it a lot quicker to make a quilt. I think I might buy a cheap spread for the summer and then I can take my time and make a nice quilt for my bedroom. I would love to do an amish style with fancy quilting.

The braided quilt looks to be a goodie to me! Good luck finding new furniture... they make it all half a** these days so that it falls apart in a year. I've been looking for a dresser for 5 years now... Accuquilt should pay closer attention to people that bring these issues to them. It shows you enjoy their product enough to want to help it stay around.

Your braid quilt will make a good sofa quilt. I make lots of sofa size quilts. A good size to try a pattern and use fabrics from stash. I have trouble getting the rows to turn out the same size when making a strippy style quilt.

The quilt looks terrific even if the dye was annoying to work with.
I woulnd't put a lot of quilting on the quilt as the pattern seems to be the highlight. Nice work Debbie!

I'm sorry you are continuing to have grief with dies! UGGH!!
Your braid quilt is quite wonderful! I've always loved the look of them, but haven't tried it yet. And now, after looking at your lovely quilt, I want to drop everything and try it right now. Deep breath, self control. I'll just keep admiring yours for a while!

The quilt looks so beautiful. The wonkiness would drive me crazy as well but you did a great job.

We are still on our original bedroom set, too . . . . except for the bed which we changed about 14 years ago. Went from a king to a queen to make a little more room in the bedroom *s* I would love new dressers, but I am strangely attached to these because they are officially the first pieces of furniture we purchased. I'm a sentimental fool.

Your braid quilt is amazing - what a beautiful quilt! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the dies though...that's no fun. I'm kind of surprised you haven't heard from them.
I'd keep the quilting simple, let the design shine. SO gorgeous.

Oh, that's too bad with the cutter problems, but your top look great. It even matches your cat,-)

Could your problem be the grain of the fabric?? I am always really careful about the grain and have never had a problem with the dies....just a thought? Your quilt is gorgeous!!

Your quilt is looking lovely! And yes you need to tell accuquilt! They need to know that you're having a problem with their product. I am so not interested in their produce. Seems like a lot of $$$ for something that isn't working well! Cheers!
