Goofs and Giveaway!

I had one of those days, I got a lot done, but not without the help of my furry buddies and a lot of mess ups.

First I cut up some more hexagons. This way I have plenty to work on, to get some progress done this weekend.
Of course Izzy had to check them out.

Then I got the idea to make an apple core runner for my dining bureau. I have a large penny rug on it now, but the cats get all over it and i need something clean I can put on, to set the dishes on. But my first try, I jammed the threads at the beginning. The second, I sewed two together nicely, then realized one core was backwards, so I tried one more and got it right. But, it made me realize that I need to take my time and it is too much to get done for Easter. Soooo, I decided to make a quickie runner. I got some nice fabric from my friend Kelley, perfect for a table cloth. I sewed two pieces together and planned on doing a blanket stitch with my machine, but then I changed my mind and went fancier. Machine sewing a design, takes a long time, lol. I have never done this before and I made a mess, but it will have to be good enough. At least I can put the dishes down on a clean runner.

This is a close up, you can see my bad stitching, guess I need to show it to my pfaff lady and have her explain to me, how to do it right;) I really need lessons, lol. The good thing is that the material is still good, so later I can take off the edges and still use the material in another project.

And then I got a start on Easter cleaning. I cannot vacuum without Casey wanting a clean up for himself. He likes to be vacuumed and playing ball while I clean. As I vacuum he throws the ball at me and if I ignore him, he will put it on the vacuum. I think it is the noise that gets him going, he is definitely a bit odd;)

And this is my 500th post! And I think it is time for a double giveaway! First prize will be a handmade item from me and the second winner will receive a free epattern. But, I will make you wait till saturday to find out what the prize will be. That will be the official contest day! I haven't quite decided, but I have a few ideas;) So make sure to come back Saturday and leave a comment!

My dog loved to get vacuumed, being an Airedale and having a double coat he would get 1/2 the garden soil trapped in it and when he lay on the floor he left behind a mound of dirt, so he and the floor got done regularly.

Uhhh..."bad stitching"???? Like, WHERE? Looks perfectly good to me -either that, or your photo is hiding something! Casey is amazing - my critters run and scatter when I haul out the vacume...(Gee, could it be that I do it so infrequently it spooks them??? Nahhh...) :o) Smiles & Hugs (Thanks for visiting...) Casey looks like he's in heaven! Our border collie would bite the vacuum head and hop around and bark at it until it got shut off! Silly dogs! Great fabrics on the hexagons and runner! The fancy stitch looks good to me! Have a Happy Easter!

When I was a kid our family dog always without fail would hear the vacuum cleaner and run over to get her fair share of vacuuming! She was a shedder so it was a good thing she loved the vacuum I guess. Congrats on so many post...hopefully I can get back here as I'd love the homemade item (from your hands and all).

Too cute to see your pup want to be around when the vac is running. Every animal I've ever had has run away like made when I turn ours on. :)

I think your stitches on the runner look fine.

I have a pattern called the 10 minute table runner. It uses 2 fabrics and really only takes 10 or 15 minutes to make. I love to make it with some novelty fabric. I think your dog is so funny that he likes to be vacuumed. Mine never did. Thanks for the chance to win in your giveaway.

Happy Easter to you!! Casey is so adorable and that tongue makes him special. My bulldogs hate the sweeper and try to attack it.

Congratulations on 500 posts!!!! My dogs head for the hills when they hear the vacuum start. Hey, maybe that would be a good excuse not to vacuum, "I didn't want to frighten the dogs." Think it would work?

Deb,
Hard to believe you have made it to 500 posts as it seems like I remember you starting it just the other day. Congratulations and on to the next goal,

Miss Dottie runs into the next room when i get the vacuum out even though it's her hair I need to pick up.

Thanks for the chance at not one, but two goodies. Please drop my name in the hat or bowl or where ever they will be pulled from by one of the beasties, I presume.

Very pretty runner, Debbie! The decorative stitching can be a bit tricky - do take the classes if you can. I never got mine, until I started working there [long story]. Puppy is TOO FUNNY - have a wonderful Easter, hon!
